This blog hosts a challenge for home sewers who want to commit to sewing their own wardrobe (or certain parts of your wardrobe :-). Our goal is to not purchase RTW clothing from January 1, 2015 thru December 31, 2015. Follow our journey as we share and encourage each other through tips, tutorials, and various challenges. Thanks for dropping by!
How funny. I don't even put lippy and powder on to go out so I would feel very strange indeed wearing it at the sewing machine. As for waiting for the beds to be made and the sink empty then I would never sew!
Most of the time my house is a wreck when I'm sewing--sewing is my stay-at-home getaway. Although, except for the lipstick and powder part, there is a ring of truth to what's being conveyed. When you have taken care of household and personal distractions, you can focus totally on creating something beautiful.
I used to make sure I did everything that needed to be done before sewing - chores, work, study, you name it, because when I grew up we had to do out jobs before we could play or do our hobbies. So it sort of became a habit, and I ended up doing more and more - and no hobbies at all. So now I make sure I ignore the dishes, the dust, the jobs on Tuesdays so I can sew. My husband fully supports that - he thinks I do enough already and was rather that I was happy.
How times and ideas change. Thanks Helen for sharing
Wow. I guess that's why I can never get any sewing done. I spend a lot of time trying to get all of my chores done around the house before I see and with an infant my work is never done. I took some time to myself yesterday to get some sewing done and I didn't worry about the housework and it felt great!
This article is too cute! There is some truth to this... When my mind is free from distractions my sewing time is more enjoyable. And, it seems like I use the seam ripper just a little bit less.... LOL!
