McCall's M6653 Misses' Top

I made this McCall's M6653 Misses' Top a few weeks ago. I confess, I have made a few garments since then, but I have been remiss in contributing here. I hope to catch up this weekend.

This is a loose fitting pullover top with cut-on sleeves. Two pattern pieces only! It took longer to sew on the bias binding than to construct the actual blouse. I made it out of a cotton voile, for summer weather.

Your posts have inspired me so much. I do enjoy reading them and getting great tips. Thank you!

I blogged about it here:

  1. This looks great and your finishing looks even better. I'm happy all of the ladies are encouraging you. I initially wanted to do the challenge for a year but I think it's permanent for me. I've even started looking into making my own purses.! I am looking forward to seeing all of the other garments you've made.

Btw, I tried to post on your blog but it kept giving me an error.

    1. Natalea, me, too! I don't ever want to have to purchase clothes made in a sweatshop again! And sewing my own is cheaper than purchasing clothes made with fair labor practices and green technologies. I have made a wallet, sunglass case, coin purse, and a few purses, but they are all pretty crafty. They do not have hardware or serious support. I am vegan, so I avoid leather, but I would dig learning how to sew tough ultrasuede.

  2. Hi Stephanie - the tiop doe look great - next we will have to get you modelling your garments :) I still hate doing that, it seems really weird taking pictures of yourself to post everywhere. I'm off to your blog now to have a look.

    1. Thank you, SarahLiz! I got my husband to take a few pics of me wearing skirts I just made, so maybe I'll post soon.

  3. I've realized that I don't make enough blouses to coordinate with the skirts and pants I make. Thanks for reminding me that I NEED SHIRTS! :)

    1. AND, after looking at the link for the M6653, I realize I have this in my sewing queue. Thanks for sharing how the final product looks in a print!

    2. Oh, how fun! I love it when I find a pattern in my stash!

    3. I am still so addicted to quilting prints, it's really been a struggle for me to make separates that coordinate! I have to force myself to make a shirt to go with a printed skirt that doesn't clash or look like a giant billboard of patterns!

  4. Well, phooey. I was prompted to link my Blogger with Google + comments, and that is not friendly at all, especially for folks without a Google + page. I tried to revert it back to Blogger to see if that works.
