We began the original challenge on April 1, 2013. We've had up to 50 home sewers join us on the journey, and we are kicking the challenge off again on January 1, 2015!
We will begin a year long journey of home sewing! We're committing to not purchasing clothing for one year. Instead, we will build our wardrobe by making it ourselves....
Challenging? YES
Impossible? NO!!
For those who may be intimidated by the challenge of making everything in your wardrobe, you can choose to focus on a category or two. For example, maybe you'll commit to making all of your tops or skirts.
In honor of Helen over at Nanna's Place, let's get started this way:
1. Let's introduce OR reintroduce ourselves (if you joined us before).
2. Include a link and a brief description of your blog and why you sew (and blog).
3. Tell us your sewing goals for 2015.
4. Share the link to the first post you ever added to this challenge blog (or your post that was your favorite).
5. Grab the button code to the right to show your support!
* Thanks Helen for your beautiful post to encourage us to re-engage!
Join us.... Leave a comment and your email if you're interested in authoring posts. You'll receive an email inviting you to author posts, share techniques, review sewing books, and display your efforts along the way.
Look for updates in the coming weeks to help you get ready to take your sewing skills to the next level. More later.... Cheering you on...Vita
Very exciting. Got me thinking about trying this!
ReplyDeleteSarah...you have time to ponder it. I hope you'll join us! Vita
DeleteI'm excited. I've not been able to truly get involved for a long while. I'm finally slowing down and have time for me and things I love to do!!

ReplyDeleteHi Ladies! I was just in my closet and sadly pondering my lack of pants...and tops...and need for warm things! Uggh! I soooo need to be challenged to sew some clothing for 2015. This is going to be fun. I'm in! I'm Cathy from www.sewingforlife.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteI need to do this, after nearly a year of minimal sewing, my wardrobe desperately needs a boost.
ReplyDeleteI've had a difficult year so far and 2015 will be challenging, with a house move in January. But I so want to do thus fir ME!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this challenge but I'm not sure about making everything for a year. There are several reasons I would love to commit to this. One to get my sewing going into full swing , use up my stash and challenge myself to make well fitting garments, so I guess count me in. My email is mandy_cantarella@hotmail.com and my blog is sewandsewbytheseasea.blogspot.com.au. Here we go.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, this looks like the kind of challenge I'm looking for and I would love to take part in it. I will commit to making everything except jeans and underthings. My blog link is http://maureenclayton.blogspot.com/. And my email is maureenclayton060@gmail.com. This will be my year in my happy place.

ReplyDeleteI want to participate!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't say zero RTW because, though I don't shop much, I still find things that I love/have to have.
BUT, I will commit to two biggies; sewing my own outerwear and jeans in 2015.

Thanks ladies!
Hello! I'm a novice sewer but a determined one! I have really been wanting something like this so . . . here I am to join you. My overarching goal is to make all my clothing for the year. This won't include unmentionables and outerwear. I'll choose quarterly goals to focus on and my first quarter goal is a knit tee shirt/skirt combo.
ReplyDeleteThis is my blog, such as it is, just for joining this challenge: http://findingmater.blogspot.com/
Oh, that was easy. The blogger app made adding a pic easy so that's done.
ReplyDeleteBtw, my name is Rebecca.
Hello. I haven't had time to sew in over three years. I recently left my full time job, and plan to spend time doing the things that I love. One being sewing. I've always wanted to sew all my own clothes, so this is as good a time as any. Patricia

DeleteMy name is Marian. I have been sewing since I was little and have been sewing custom wedding dresses for several years. I started a blog (notionsofaseamstress.blogspot.com) at the end of 2013 but have not updated it since. Sewing goals for this year? Finish the wedding dress currently on my mannequin, master cutting patterns from existing clothes, enter at least one competition, and (drum roll please) sew all my own clothes in 2015! (Minus unmentionables, since I am too lazy to fit bras to myself when I fit them to so many other women.)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add my email... marian.sharp@rocketmail.com
DeleteI'm Dorothy and I'm excited about joining again. I wasn't able to post in the past, but hopefully I'll get connected this time. Every since your 2013 challenge, it's hard for me to make any purchases. I've continued to make all of my church suits and continue to get better. Thank you for that. Most of my sewing is for myself and family. http://sewingfunthings.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI forget to add the email also; butch_and_dot@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble posting to this blog so hopefully it will work this time. I am wondering if its too late to join the challenge?
