Welcome to all of the new ladies!!! We are getting so many participants and I know this challenge will be so awesome.
I am so sorry that I haven't been posting, but I am really busy preparing for this vow renewal my husband and I are having on Next Saturday. Yes!!! Next Saturday!! It came around so fast. Marvita and I have been hard at work trying to complete my dress and because I am a do-it-yourselfer I have a number of other projects that I am trying to complete for the wedding to include flowers, programs, and planning. I am wearing all of my friends out (BTW, they all are so awesome). I will post pictures of the dress and all of my DIY projects for the wedding as soon as it is over with. I don't think that my husband checks my blog, but I can't be too sure.
I also wanted to mention that I entered a contest last week with Online Fabric Store and I won a $50 gift certificate. The giveaway required contestants to share what we plan to do for our spring projects and I shared and won. I still haven't decided what I am going to do with my card because I had already purchased Silk Charmeuse for my dress and Chiffon for draping from their store. I think I will use it to purchase the items needed to make my son's quilt.
Anyway, welcome again to our new ladies! We are a month away from starting our journey so don't forget to load up on fabric, patterns, notions and anything else you'll need.
Until then, Happy Sewing
Natalea
This blog hosts a challenge for home sewers who want to commit to sewing their own wardrobe (or certain parts of your wardrobe :-). Our goal is to not purchase RTW clothing from January 1, 2015 thru December 31, 2015. Follow our journey as we share and encourage each other through tips, tutorials, and various challenges. Thanks for dropping by!

BLOG Roll vs photos
Hi Ladies,
Let me say again how excited Natalea and I are that you've joined the challenge! I think we're up to a total of 18 sewists (one participant doesn't currently have a blog). We are both looking forward to sharing and growing in the coming year. Thanks again to Lynn who introduced "Me-Made Mondays." "Within-the-challenges" like this one will encourage us to wear and share as we accomplish our goals. You'll notice a change in the left column of the blog. Since we had received few images/avatars for our team of sewists, I converted the list to a blog roll which links to your sites and updates as you update your blog...I know, right, like...er, uhhh, DUH! Yeah, that one falls in the "stitch-slapped" category! I should have done that from the start. LOL!!!
If anyone knows how to and is interested in creating a button for the blog challenge, you're welcome to design it and make it available for us to post on our personal blogs. I created the stitch-slapped fridays and me-made mondays images in PowerPoint then saved as jpeg files. I haven't gotten around to coming up with something creative for sewing challenge however.
Anyway, so glad to have you all on board! Blessings on your week, Vita....

Burda 7576 and Butterick 5249 Complete
I'm done! Let me just say that I love, love, love this skirt (Butterick 5249)--primarily because it has no darts! As you can see I made the belt loops as well. I haven't done that since high school. I'm trying to push myself to do things I haven't done before (or that I've shied away from). I figured I'd better get some practice since Lynn convinced me to order Jalie 2908 an it is on the way (yay!)
I am pleased with the Burda top; however, next time I will use a knit and lengthen it a bit (I may also need cut it a size larger--it's clearly cut for a B-cup). It's a nice pattern to have on hand. I had the tags made in the mid-90s. I've begun using them again in finished garments. I will have a few more pics when I post to my own blog.
Conversation with my son:
Me: Buddy, I need you to take the pics of my outfit
Son: Which one?
Me: The one I wore Sunday...
Son: Oh...you mean the one with the blouse that looked like it was exploding! And the color of that skirt made my head hurt!
Me: Er...uhh...then, you were looking at it way too long son, way too long....
LOL, Vita

Me Made Monday
Today's outfit,a print top and black pants. The top was made by me last summer and the pants were store bought.
Made from this pattern and a stretch knit fabric from Hancock Fabrics.
This top went together very smoothly. I think it took no more than 3 hours from cut to finish. I didnt have to do any alterations of the pattern because of the stretch fabric. It is a faux wrap,so there is no worry about it coming untied and flashing anyone. I think it is good pattern for any collection, beginner as well as experienced sewers. I believe the wrap style is body friendly to all women. I know I will make this one again

Me Made Monday
Finally... I have a post for "Me Made Monday"! I have plenty of clothing sewn by me, but I'm not working outside the home these days,so I tend to wear t-shirts and jean a lot.
Today I went to visit an art gallery, where I'm hoping to show some of my art. This is what I wore.
I made the white shirt from OOP, Mccall's 3723.
It is a basic button down shirt with french cuffs. The fabric is cotton/poly blend. It is the only white shirt I have and this was the first time I've worn it. I made it a year ago and hung it in my closet with no buttons on it. While I was cleaning out the closet last week, I found it and sewed on some buttons. I will make a few more because, I have heard that everyone should have a few white shirts.
