This blog hosts a challenge for 50 home sewers who have committed to ONE YEAR of sewing to build our wardrobe. We have agreed that we will not purchase RTW clothing from April 1, 2013 thru March 30, 2014. ENROLLMENT IS NOW CLOSED, but please follow our journey as we share and encourage each other through tips, tutorials, and various challenges. Thanks for dropping by!
love the top! I 'm not sure I'd be brave enough to make my own jeans lol!

I am the first to loudly declare that making jeans is not hard at all! If you've ever made a pair of fly-front trousers, you can definitely make a pair of jeans. The only difference between jeans and trousers is a couple of extra seams and a closer fit. That's it! I've made eight pairs so far and will probably never buy another pair again.
DeleteGreat outfit! I'm looking forward to trying to make a pair of jeans. I haven't tried Jalie...I'll be checking them out.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The Jalie pattern is fantastic. The fit is great and the instructions are extremely clear. I have a couple of other jeans patterns but I've never tried them. Why do all that work when I have a pair that already fits? Maybe we can add a jeans sew along to the mix!
DeleteLmbo @ grown-@ss Phat. I can't wait to make some jeans. I have a tiny waist and big old booty and I have SERIOUS fitting issues when it comes to bottoms. You look great and I love the fabric for the top.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I sew! I am 5 feet tall and have a trunk full of junk. I can't stand for the back of my pants/jeans to not cover all when I sit. At the rink where I skate, I (unfortunately) see this all of the time. It is *not* cute. By sewing my own jeans, I can make them right length for me as well as make sure they provide necessary coverage. =)
ReplyDeleteI didn't do MMM, but I'm planning to do Me Made Wednesday (provided the weather is nice enough for a skirt). LOL! I promise myself that I will try to make a shirt in February.
